One of our area's best-loved places Sitting Bull Falls is located in Lincoln National Forest, just a short drive from our park. There are beautiful picnic areas near the falls, clean restrooms and plenty of shade. The falls are tucked away in a quiet box canyon. There is easy parking, then just a short walk to the falls. In 2011, the canyon was ravaged by the "Last Chance Fire." The loss of vegetation and wildlife was enormous. Sitting Bull Falls and much of Lincoln National Forest were closed. Two years later, just as regrowth was underway, heavy rains resulted in severe flooding. Much that had been repaired was lost. Only now has the area truly come back to health. The healing power of nature is amazing! Park hours are 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM, the fee is $5.00/car. Take 285 S, turn right on Hwy 137, then follow the signs.
